We’ve recently signed up with boundgrid.net — they have unlimited domains per account, asp.net, MSSQL + MYSQL, plus a pretty cool reseller setup.

Service is excellent, worth checking out I’d say.

I’d strongly discourage WH4L if you want a viable solution. Why? I had plenty of reboots during the day and I too had issues with my MSSQL response time. See my $.02: http://feeds.feedburner.com/AndrewConnell?m=432

I’d strongly recommend http://www.CrystalTech.com... they just started supporting ASP.NET 2.0, MSSQL 2005, and upped all the space allotments on their plans

Ben,

CodeBetter.Com used to be hosted on WebHost4Life, but we quickly out grew their shared package. Not bad, for the price, IMO.

We’re now on a co-located server and pay about $150 per month, including some FTP backup space. We’re using http://www.serverbeach.com.

Thanks for the responses, I’ll check these out. I’ve looked into WebHost4Life, but it seems that for every person that has had great service, someone else has had crappy service.

I would like to have a dedicated server, but that’ll be way more than I want to spend. If I were going that route, I’ve used 1and1.com before, and they have a great service, and you can get a dedicated machine with remote desktop access for under $100/month

I’ve used webhost4life for 3 years. I have had few complaints but I do agree they can be slow at times. I do disagree that their MSSQL is slow however. In their defense, I am on shared hosting and I doubt many of the “slowness” issues will appear on a dedicated box. Overall they are the best host I’ve used and any host no matter who you host with is bound to have unhappy patrons.

As for their support: In my experience, they have been prompt and accurate MOST of the time, though I did have a “back and forth” with them about the worker process configuration. But again, on a dedicated box.. it’s not up to them. So essentially, any issues that are a result of inaccessability to the box and having a hundred sites on one box are not in the scope of dedicated hosting since “you” are in control.

-1 on webhost4life.

Slow webhost, regular downtimes, slow support, often people who don’t know what they are talking about.

Very slow mssql.

Others might have other experience though.

WebHost4Life is pretty decent indeed. It doesn’t cost much. I have the largest package and have it hosting three domain names! Two to the root (CS is great) and one to a subfolder. The subfolder ‘ll cost you another $15 per year besides the domainname, because they can’t have let you just point 100 domain names to the same hosting package without some compensation!

I think Brendan Tompkins got Vault 3.0 working there. Perhaps you should check out his blog or contact him.
